For the second year in a row, Adventist HealthCare (AHC) has received the Workplace Excellence Seal of Approval Award from the Alliance for Workplace Excellence (AWE), a nonprofit committed to helping employers in the Washington, D.C.area, build excellent places to work. This award honors national and local organizations that display outstanding commitment to an exceptional workplace environment. “We are honored to again be recognized with this important distinction,” said Terry Forde, president and CEO, of the Gaithersburg, Md., organization. “The Alliance for Workplace Excellence’s award recognizes our organization’s dedication to the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of not only our patients, but of our dedicated employees.” AHC was honored along with other area winners at an award luncheon on May 20 in Bethesda, Md. It was among 55 others to earn the Workplace Excellence Award. AWE rigorously evaluated winners on their programs in communication, diversity, employee growth, life-work balance and more. “Between our robust benefits package offerings and comprehensive employee wellness programs, we strive to create a culture of wellness and help our employees maintain an important life-work balance,” explained Marta Brito Perez, senior vice president and human resources officer. County Recognizes AHC’s Best Practices AHC is also one of only three winners of the Experience Counts Award, given by the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development, Workforce Investment Board and Jewish Council for the Aging (JCA). This award honors employers in Montgomery County who consistently demonstrate best practices and engaging innovative strategies to proactively employ capable and talented older workers. Ike Leggett, county executive, presented the awards at the recent JCA 50+ Employment Expo.
